Alexandre Lacazette sends message to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over Arsenal contract wrangle

Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette appears to be keen for his strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to sign a new contract judging by the Frenchman’s social media activity.

There are growing fears that Aubameyang could leave the club on a free next summer, with his current deal due to expire in June 2021.

But the Gunners are desperate to keep hold of arguably their most important player, and according to reports in France they have now officially offered the Gabon international an extension to his contract.

And Lacazette has pledged his support for his teammate by ‘liking’ a post on Instagram from an Arsenal fan account which referenced the new contract news along with the caption ‘Don’t let us down, @aubameyang97. Sign the ting.’

Aubameyang has been prolific since joining Arsenal from Dortmund in 2017, scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances in all competitions, and he has formed a lethal partnership with Lacazette.

The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid are thought to be monitoring the situation should be decide to turn down the Gunners’ offer, and it is set to be a nerve-wracking time for Arsenal fans as they wait to discover what he chooses to do.

It is believed that boss Mikel Arteta wants to personally take charge of contract negotiations, as he believes his hands on approach may prove beneficial as talks progress.

Back in January Aubameyang addressed Arsenal fans in the programme notes where he declared he “loved the club”.
