Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shown what he is missing after Chelsea transfer approach

Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly approached Chelsea over a move in the January window.

The Gabonese striker is yet to commit his long-term future to the Gunners and the Daily Mail claim his entourage explored the Blues as an option.

They sounded out their London rivals as the 31-year-old eyes one more big move, only for his high wage demands to put paid to any move.

Aubameyang’s future remains unresolved with Barcelona and Inter Milan amongst the clubs linked with a move if he cannot agree terms with the Gunners.

Arsenal and Chelsea meet in today’s FA Cup final – and the Blues have shown Aubameyang what he is missing since his initial approach.

Chelsea were reportedly sounded out over a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move in January

Since January, Arsenal have struggled to get going under Mikel Arteta.

Whilst Aubameyang has again finished as their top scorer and notched individual accolades, he has often been left with little support in a side who finished eighth in the Premier League table.

After being eliminated in the Europa League, the Gunners are facing next season without European football unless they beat Chelsea at Wembley.

Mikel Arteta is facing a tough task to keep Aubameyang at the club

Summer spending is set to be limited, and there is very much an acceptance that Arteta’s rebuild will be a long-term project without the finances for a quick-fix to close the gap to top clubs.

In stark contract, Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side stormed back into the Champions League, defying their transfer ban last summer to secure a top four finish in the Premier League.

They arrive at the FA Cup final looking at a bright future regardless of the result and with plenty of ambition shown at the top of the club.

Chelsea’s future looks bright under Frank Lampard

Since deciding against a move for Aubameyang, the Blues have spent big with the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already done.

Kai Havertz looks set to follow suit with Roman Abramovich clearly intent on giving Lampard the tools to get back to the very top.

Since meeting in the Europa League final last season, Arsenal and Chelsea have gone in two very different dimensions.

It is no wonder Aubameyang considered Chelsea as his entourage sounded out clubs in January and since that point the Blues have only shown him what he is missing at their London rivals.
