Arsenal have already completed four permanent signings this summer and brought Dani Ceballos back for a second loan spell from Real Madrid, but there is no signs of the Gunners slowing down in the transfer market.
Mikel Arteta is hoping to build a side capable of challenging for a top four place in the Premier League next term, and top of his wishlist remains a midfielder, with Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey still linked with a switch to the Emirates.
More on that, and the latest Arsenal transfer rumours, below.
Arsenal offered PSG star
Arsenal have been offered the chance to loan Alphonse Areola this summer, according to The Evening Standard.
The French international spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, and Arsenal would face competition from Fulham to secure his signature.
The Gunners are currently in the process of deciding on Emiliano Martinez’s future; the Argentine has been subject to a second bid from Aston Villa for his services.
Arsenal are unwilling to let the Martinez go without having a replacement lined up, and Areola would offer that. The club have also been linked with David Raya but Brentford are unwilling to sanction a deal at present.
Guendouzi sends a message to Arteta over Arsenal return
Matteo Guendouzi has said he wants to convince Mikel Arteta he has a future in the Arsenal first-team.
Guendouzi, 21, joined the club from Lorient in Ligue 2 and initially earned rave reviews for his performances. That changed drastically after a clash with Brighton ’s players in June, during which he poked fun at earning more than them.
The club confronted him about what they deemed a poor attitude, and links to PSG quickly surfaced after that.
It was expected he would be leaving the Emirates for a return to France, but it would seem he has not given up on his future at the club.
In a post on Instagram this Tuesday, the French midfielder wrote: “2 games, 6 points! Proud of my team France. Now let’s go back to work Arsenal.”
Arsenal preparing to sell to fund the Partey deal
If Hector Bellerin is sold to Paris Saint-Germain, the club will use the money to fund a deal for Thomas Partey, according to The Athletic.
The Gunners are considering selling the Spanish right-back before the transfer window closes, even though he has been a regular part of the first-team since project restart.
Arsenal have been in talks with the French giants and would want in the region of £27million according to the report.
The report states Arteta is seeking a midfield enforcer and sees Atletico Madrid midfielder Partey as the perfect candidate for that role.
