    Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card

cash back on dining and entertainment. You get 2% cash back at
grocert stores and 1% everywhere else.
  • There is no annual fee with this card, which is rare

    a popular bonus category.
  • Read on to find out why this card may just be the
best card ever for dining rewards.

The Capital One Savor
Cash Rewards Credit Card
is an innovative card that may take
the title as the best dining rewards card ever.

While it has a little
from the newly refreshed American Express®
Gold Card
, for a much lower cost the Capital One Savor offers
compelling rewards, with up to 4% cash back on popular
categories, including a 4% award rate for dining and

Let’s see how it stacks up and if
it deserves a slot in your wallet.

Big rewards for food purchases

Savor is one of the most compelling cash-back
cards available today
and one of the best dining rewards
cards ever. Everyone has to eat, and you’ll get 2% cash back at
grocery stores and 4% back at restaurants with no limit to what
you can earn.

There is no annual fee with this
card, which is rare for a credit card with an option for
unlimited 4% cash back on a popular bonus category. While you can
sometimes earn up to 5% cash back on restaurant and grocery
purchases with the Chase Freedom
card, that reward level is on a rotating basis and may not come
up every year.

The Chase Sapphire
offers 3x points per dollar on food and dining
purchases, but it charges a $450 annual fee. The newly updated
AmEx Gold
card offers a slightly better 4x points per dollar at US
restaurants and grocery stores, but there is a $25,000 annual
purchase limit at grocery stores and the card charges a $250
annual fee.

Those looking for a very high-end
card for dining rewards may do well with Sapphire Reserve or AmEx
Gold, but if you are scared away by three-figure annual fees,
Savor is a great choice. Those two competing cards also offer
travel rewards, not cash back, which gives Savor another big
benefit over Chase and AmEx.

Estimating the value of grocery and dining

Just how much can you earn from

There’s no limit, but we can look
at the average person’s spending on food to estimate what you may
get in rewards each year from the Capital One Savor credit

If you spend $400 per month on
groceries, that is $4,800 in annual grocery purchases. The bonus
there is worth $96 in annual cash back.

Restaurant-loving millennials,
families, and empty nesters alike may frequent restaurants
ranging from fine dining to fast food. If you spend $200 per
month here, that’s $2,400 in annual restaurant purchases worth
$72 in cash back.

Combining those two categories
yields a $168 cash back reward. Pretty great for a card with no
costs if you pay it off in full every month and avoid things like
balance transfers, cash advances, and late payments.

The card pays 1% cash back
everywhere else, the value of which varies based on your annual
spending habits.

For cash back on dining and groceries, Savor is tough to

While it doesn’t offer travel
rewards, many card users are happy to get cash back as the sole
reward for each credit card purchase. With the high reward rate
for all food purchases, just about anyone can earn rewards at a
good rate.

In fact, this card just may be
the best card ever for dining rewards, certainly the best card
for dining rewards with no annual fee and the best dining rewards
card for cash back.

If you’re looking for a fun,
innovative, and valuable card with no required costs, you won’t
go wrong with Capital One’s Savor credit card.
