Miazga agrees terms ahead of another loan exit
Chelsea centre-back Matt Miazga is on the verge of a loan move to Anderlecht, where he will be managed by Premier League winner Vincent Kompany.
The move will represent the fourth loan destination of the American’s Chelsea career, after he spent the last 18 months at Reading in the Championship.
According to football.london, the move will be confirmed “imminently”, with Miazga having been left out of Chelsea’s testing bubble for the Premier League season and not given a squad number.
A January 2016 arrival from New York Red Bulls, the 25-year-old hasn’t played a competitive first-team game for the Blues in more than four years.
He played 20 league games for Reading last season, and has also spent time on loan at Vitesse and Nantes.
Kompany’s Anderlecht side finished eighth in the Belgian top-flight last season, and Miazga will be the second Premier League player to join them on loan this season after Brighton forward Percy Tau.
Napoli make late play for Chelsea midfielder
Tiemoue Bakayoko’s Chelsea exit has been dragging out for months, with question marks over his destination and doubt over whether his departure will be permanent or temporary.
AC Milan have been interested in bringing the midfielder back to the San Siro after a successful loan in 2018/19, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the French international.
However, Napoli are now also believed to be ramping up their interest, with Goal reporting that the Serie A side’s manager Rino Gattuso has taken a fancy to the former Monaco man.
Bakayoko last featured for Chelsea during a pre-season friendly in summer 2019, but played 20 league games on loan at Monaco last season before Ligue 1 came to a premature end.
Napoli, who sit top of Serie A after two games, are looking at defensive midfield options after selling Allan to Everton in September.
