An owner of luxurious cottages in the Scottish Borders is looking to pay one couple £35,000 to live in the spectacular countryside.
We’re talking landscapes filled with rolling green hills, winding rivers and enchanting woodlands that look like something straight out of a fairytale.
According to a listing on jobs website Greycoat Lumley, the owner of eight cottages in Dryburgh is looking to hire a couple to help maintain the homes.
The salary is £35,000 a year, but as part of the deal you’ll also get to live rent-free in a cosy two-bedroom property in the idyllic countryside. Oh, and your council tax and utility bills will be covered too!
The eight cottages themselves are pretty dreamy. Located near the town of Melrose and right by the River Tweed, they boast cosy interiors still offering heaps of space, sprawling gardens and a generally picturesque setting.
So, what exactly does the role involve?
The job description includes responsibilities such as general maintenance of the properties and grounds, managing cleaners, shopping for supplies, arranging flowers, laundry and ironing, and other errands that may need doing.
According to the listing, the hired couple will be reporting directly to the cottages’ owner, and must be “pro active, hardworking and organised”.
Oh, and applicants who have a pet need not be deterred – you’ll be allowed to bring your animal along to live with you, as the listing states that pets are welcome ‘within reason’.

If the job’s not quite right for you, but you’re now considering a trip to the Scottish Borders, the good news is that the eight cottages are open for bookings.
