Emily in Paris filming locations: follow in Lily Collins’ footsteps in the City of Lights

Netflix ‘s Emily in Paris has finally landed on our screens, and it’s a big love letter to the City of Lights.

The series follows the life of fashionista Emily (played by Lily Collins ) who moves from Chicago to Paris, and juggles a new job, romance and friends.

The show was shot on location in Paris, so you can expect heaps of appearances from the French capital’s iconic landmarks.

In fact, in the first episode alone we get to see the likes of the Eiffel Tower , the Arc de Triomphe , L’Assemblee Nationale , and the Pont Des Arts where lovers can leave padlocks with their names etched on them.

But that’s not all. Scenes where Emily has a memorable call with her boyfriend takes place outside Le Pantheon , a monument and burial site for iconic French artists including Marie Curie and Voltaire.

Meanwhile, when Emily is tasked on working on an advert, she heads to the iconic Pont Alexandre III for filming.

As for her chic Parisian apartment? The building itself is located on the Place de l’Estrapade square, also the setting for Gabriel’s restaurant. However, interior shots for the apartment were filmed on a set inside a studio.

Emily’s glamorous lifestyle sees her heading off to heaps of lavish bashes, so it seems fitting that they’re set in some incredible venues.

For example, the breathtaking Monnaie de Paris is the setting for a fashion show, and Emily and her friends head to art gallery L’Atelier des Lumières for one bash, as well as the Musée des Arts Forains .

Other scenes shot in iconic Parisian hotspots include the 19th century opera house Palais Garnier , where Emily watches Swan Lake, as well as outside shots in the landscaped gardens of Jardin du Palais Royale and Jardin du Luxembourg .

When Emily is tasked with looking after an American actress, the luxury hotel she visits is the world-famous Hôtel Plaza Athénée , where some of the ‘cheaper’ rooms start from £1,008 a night.  (The good news is that there are cheap hotels in Paris for those of us on a budget).

Of course, France is famed for its incredible food, and there’s heaps of inspiration in the show for foodies. For a start there’s the Michelin-starred Le Grand Véfour , where the protagonist books a table, only to realise she’s booked the wrong date.

As for the bakery which becomes her go-to spot for pastries? This is actually the Boulangerie Moderne Rabineau in the 5th arrondissement, right by her apartment.

Film and TV locations you can visit

Not all of the scenes were filmed in Paris. Character Camille (played by Camille Razat) has a seriously swish family villa – and the real-life spot is located in the Loire Valley.

In the show, it goes by the name of Château de Lalisse, but in reality it was the Château de Sonnay which offered the beautiful architecture, opulent interiors and breathtaking countryside views.
