Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti hails Liverpool rival Jurgen Klopp for building ‘perfect machine’

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has put Merseyside rivalries aside to praise Jurgen Klopp for building the “perfect machine” at Liverpool.

The Reds are currently celebrating their first title in 30 years, and a maiden Premier League crown after they clinched the title this week with seven matches still to play.

Liverpool have only dropped seven points all season and are on course for a record points haul – with a star-studded side with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane leading the ranks.

The Toffees are in a 33-year title drought themselves, and Ancelotti, who managed a goalless draw with Klopp’s men last week, has piled the plaudits onto the Reds.

Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia : “I have a great relationship with him. We met last week when everything was virtually decided and I congratulated him.

“Klopp is the architect of this success. Not only for this victory in the Premier League, but for everything he’s managed to achieve since arriving five years ago.

“With patience, he’s succeeded in building a perfect machine.”

Ancelotti lives on the outskirts of Liverpool, in Crosby, but he was still close enough to hear to celebrations in the city centre after Manchester City had lost to Chelsea, thereby confirming the destination of the trophy.

Liverpool – Premier League champions

Ancelotti said: “It’s more like how does he [Klopp] sleep! There were a few bangs last night after Manchester City’s game.

“It got much calmer later on as I live on the outskirts, but anyway Liverpool were waiting for this victory for a lot of time so it’s normal that they celebrated the way they did even with all the restrictions that continue being in place.

“My neighbour is [Georginio] Wijnaldum! But they ended up celebrating somewhere else.”
