Andrea Pirlo has wasted no time in making his mark at Juventus after axing Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira from his squad.
The Italian maestro succeeded Maurizio Sarri recently to take up what is his first job in management.
Juventus, despite winning a ninth consecutive Serie A title, are in need of an overhaul with their ageing squad failing to deliver in Europe.
Pirlo has been tasked with excelling where Sarri, Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte all fell short.
The Bianconeri lost Champions League Finals in 2015 and 2017 meaning their waiting for European glory goes back to 1996.
Pirlo has already exerted his ruthless streak and shown the door to three players who have been pillars of their recent success.
Khedira and Higuain have seen their contracts cancelled a year before their expiry with both players now in their 30s, according to Fabrizio Romano.
French midfielder Blaise Matuidi has also been allowed to move to the MLS.
Higuain’s £6.7m annual salary was proving to be a hindrance for the Italian champions who are experiencing wage issues.

Last term he scored 11 goals in 44 outings but made several of his appearances from the bench.
Khedira meanwhile, who joined from Real Madrid in 2015, only played 19 games in all competitions.
One player Pirlo will need to get the best out of however is Paulo Dybala, who himself has been linked with a Premier League move in the past.
The 26-year-old though is close to signing a contract extension according to a club chief and his agent insists he’s happy in Turin.
“Paulo Dybala is a Juventus player and happy to be one,” he said. “We’ll work with the club to renew the contract with our usual attitude as always.”
