Harry Maguire has seemingly hit back at Frank Lampard accusing the Manchester United defender of getting Cesar Azpilicueta in a “headlock”.
Chelsea boss Lampard was furious his side weren’t awarded a penalty in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Maguire had his hands around Azpilicueta as they contested the ball in the United box, but VAR saw nothing wrong with the challenge.
Lampard blasted the decision to not award Chelsea a spot-kick, telling Match of the Day that Maguire should have been penalised for his “headlock”.
“Holding is allowed, but headlocks don’t go on,” said the Chelsea boss.

“I don’t know why VAR didn’t take long and there’s also a monitor to look at. I think if the referee goes to the monitor he gives a penalty.”
Lampard also added following the game: “Without a doubt [it was a penalty against Maguire. I’m interested to see what everyone else says.
“I spoke to the lads about how many penalties they get here, over the last two seasons they’re miles ahead in Europe.”
Maguire remained tight-lipped in the face of the criticism that came his way, but he eventually responded on Instagram Story.
Posting just a picture without words, Maguire appeared to hit back with an image of Blues defender Reece James (as seen above) holding him around the middle – a challenge that also went under the radar of the referee.
