A hotel catering exclusively to women has opened its doors in Majorca.
The Som Dona Hotel in Porto Cristo is only open to guests who are women aged 14 and over, and operates a ‘no men allowed’ policy.
The 39-room boutique hotel is looking to become “a new space for women who are looking to disconnect from the stress of daily life”.
It comes as no surprise then that there’s ample opportunity for guests to unwind.
We’re talking a beach-style pool with heaps of spacious bali beds for total poolside relaxation, a wellness centre where guests can indulge in a wide array of treatments, and a bar/restaurant serving up some seriously mouthwatering local fare (the hotel promises ‘flexitarian gastronomy’).
Other highlights include a rooftop terrace,a spacious lounge where guests can relax, and even a library for bookworms. Oh, and there’s free Wi-Fi for guests who want to share their adventures on social media.
As for the rooms? Think large beds, ensuite bathrooms, contemporary design and sleek furniture for an elegant feel.
Throughout their stay, guests will also have access to ‘four-star service specifically designed for women’s needs”.
It’s not all about lounging poolside though – there’s plenty on for women who like a bit of extra adventure on a holiday.
In fact, the hotel offers a wide array of excursions so you can explore the best of Majorca, not to mention it boasts a handy location on the east coast close to plenty of Majorca’s best beaches as well as the fascinating subterranean Caves of Drach.
Som Dona caters to everyone from solo travellers to friends on group holidays.
It’s worth noting that while the hotel will be staffed predominantly by women, it may have some male members of staff in keeping with Spanish gender discrimination laws.
Feeling tempted? Rooms start from €85 a night (approx £75). Team that with cheap flights to Majorca and it could make for a budget-friendly break!
