Camping holidays come with plenty of charm, but sometimes you don’t want to have to rough it just to enjoy the outdoors.
But one amazing treehouse in New Zealand offers the ideal solution; a rustic chic offering in the heart of the woodlands that has all of the charm of camping, but with plenty of luxurious touches.
Oh, and it boasts some pretty enviable ocean views too.
The Raglan Treehouse is located in the woods in Raglan, in the Waikato district of the North Island, and it looks like something out of a storybook.
Tucked away in a 35-acre estate, the treehouse is nestled amidst the pine trees of the forest, and it has all of the basics you need for a comfortable trip.
There’s a queen size futon bed, a bathroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet, a couch, a small kitchen and even a deck complete with a small table, deck chairs and a BBQ for outdoor dining and relaxing.
The hosts even provide plenty of candles, magazines and books for guests who fancy a cosy night in.
The best part is that you won’t need to break the bank if you want to visit. Prices start from £92 per night– although there is a minimum stay of two nights required.
You are quite off the grid; the hosts warn that there isn’t much phone signal in the area, although the treehouse offers some Wi-Fi if you do need to connect. (There is also a main house about 800m away where you can use the Wi-Fi or charge electronics).
Meanwhile, there’s plenty for intrepid explorers to discover in the area too.
The treehouse is right by heaps of scenic walks including a trail right down towards the cliffs and ocean, as well as plenty of picnic spots nearby. Alternatively, hop in the car and there are hotspots such as Hamilton or the Pirongia Forest Park waiting to be explored.
Then of course there’s the large estate itself, which guests are welcome to wander around – including the pine forest.
Adventurers can also rent mountain bikes and take on the scenic track which is right by the beach, near the main town.
