Christmas gives hotels a great excuse to deck the halls with plenty of beautiful decorations during the festive season, from huge trees to eye-catching lights.
However there are some hotels which are upping the ante with their festive offerings.
We’re not talking just a few more decorations – we’re talking hotels that transform their suites with tributes to everything from Christmas film Elf to chocolate treats, epic events and even an on-site train decked out in lights.
Then there are the hotels where Christmas isn’t just for winter – they celebrate it all year round.
We take a look at six of the world’s most festive hotels and suites to have on your radar. Even if you can’t visit all of them (thanks, pandemic) it still doesn’t hurt to dream!
So, grab a mulled wine and mince pie, and check out these ridiculously festive hotels…
1. The Inn at Christmas Place, USA
This cosy inn in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, doesn’t just celebrate Christmas in December – it celebrates the festive season all year round!
Decorations stay up every day of the year from the tinsel to the twinkling lights, as well as all of the beautifully decorated trees. The hotel actually has an outdoor pool (Tennessee boasts warm weather), but you can still expect appearances from Santa whether he’s wandering around at breakfast or singing to guests poolside.
As for the rooms? Expect bedding in festive colours of red and green, decorated trees and festive lights. One highlight is the aptly named Santa’s Suite complete with its own fireplace and decorated mantel, with a statue of Father Christmas himself.

2. Elf themed hotel suite, USA
Fans of Christmas film Elf will no doubt covet a stay at the Royal Park Hotel in Michigan, which has unveiled an incredible suite we reckon Buddy the Elf himself would approve of.
Expect heaps of quirky tributes to the film hidden across the room – including a giant picture of Will Ferrell as Buddy – not to mention extra features such as a decorated Christmas tree and plenty of festive treats inspired by Buddy’s weird and wonderful diet.
3. Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, USA
Arizona isn’t exactly known for being a winter wonderland, but the Fairmont pulls out all the stops to offer guests just that.
We’re talking over five million sparkling LED lights adorning the resort, ice skating and colourful light shows. Santa himself makes an appearance, not to mention there are plenty of fun to be had from roasting marshmallows to a carousel and ferris wheel.
One highlight is the resort’s Christmas tree which is decked out in 70,000 lights which twinkle and dance to 18 classic Christmas songs. Oh, and did we mention you can opt for a train ride through the resort on a fun festive trail?

4. Chocolate Orange room, France
Club Med’s new resort La Rosière is upping the ante this Christmas with a room decked out in celebration of a classic festive treat; the chocolate orange.
Everything in the room is themed, from the chocolate orange slice-shaped headboard, to the colourful bedding and desk. Even the toilet roll is chocolate-scented.
Then of course there will be plenty of treats for guests from daily truffles to hot chocolates, a tree decked out with chocolate orange baubles and even a personalised stocking that’s refilled with chocolate snacks for EVERY DAY of guests’ stays.

5. Christmas Farm Inn, USA
As the name suggests, this quirky hotel in New Hampshire, celebrates Christmas all year long.
In what seems almost too perfect, the farm itself was originally built as a Christmas gift. Nowadays it’s a hotel with cosy interiors, scrumptious feasts and bedrooms named after Christmas icons from Santa’s reindeer to Mr and Mrs Claus themselves.
As for food, the restaurant has an extensive menu but it does include a full turkey dinner complete with all of the trimmings.
There is one thing which the hotel keeps specifically for the actual festive season; its decorations. Come winter time, it does go all out with bright lights, Santa statues and art, and plenty of festive wreaths.
