Ivory Coast demolitions: Shantytown near airport cleared | Ivory Coast News

The Ivory Coast‘s government has ordered the demolition of houses it says lie too close to the airport near the commercial capital Abidjan.

Tens of thousands of people live in the area, but the government says their homes are illegal and pose a safety risk.

But they say they have been targeted because they are poor.
