Jet2 cancels holidays and flights for thousands of customers

Jet2 has cancelled holidays and flights for thousands of customers and has vowed to only fly to quarantine-free countries.

The airline had pushed back the date for when it will restart flights and holidays from July 1 until July 15.

However, customers have taken to social media, complaining of being sent emails out of the blue telling them their holiday or flight has been cancelled beyond July 15.

The carrier told Mirror.co.uk that due to the “ongoing uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus crisis” there would be less routes on sale and a lower frequency of flights for the summer .



Jet2 has said it will not be operating flights and holidays to Jersey, Mykonos, Santorini, Kalamata, Halkidiki, Lesbos, Nice and Verona.

Furious Brits have flooded the airline’s social accounts with complaints.

One woman questioned why they were cancelling holidays after previously announcing they are resuming flights next month.

She tweeted: “Hi Jet2. Looking at your Twitter feed there seems to be a lot of customers having their flights cancelled

“Think we’d appreciate a statement or clarification as this is confusing given you saying flights resume from 15 July. Thanks.”

Another disgruntled holidaymaker replied: “Totally agree. Just had an e-mail telling me my October flight to Santorini has been cancelled, sorry for the disappointment but not to worry we start flying again on 15 July. What?”

Many more hopeful holidaymakers have reported similar issues, with one fed-up man posting: “Jet2 have just emailed me saying flights are back on from the 15th of July but they have cancelled our holiday today for August.”

Another added: “B**** disgusting! Just cancelled our flights on the 15th July only to tell me in the same b***** email “YOU’LL BE GLAD TO HEAR WE WILL BE OPERATING FLIGHTS FROM THE 15th of July.

“Plus i can’t get to speak to Jet2 until they email us. Disgrace absolute disgrace.”

A third person fumed: “Jet2 have took our holiday down, we have had no emails to say why as it’s after 15 July. Should be no problem, poor customer service, just wish I knew what was happening.”

A spokesperson said: “We will be operating a revised programme for Summer 20, and we are looking forward to taking customers on our award-winning flights and package holidays.

“Because of the ongoing uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus crisis, there is a reduction in the number of routes on sale and a lower frequency of services for Summer 20.

“We will not be operating flights and holidays to Jersey, Mykonos, Santorini, Kalamata, Halkidiki, Lesbos, Nice and Verona this summer, and there are some other reductions taking place across our nine UK bases.

“We are also in the process of making some changes to our schedules.”

Jet2 said that customers affected by the changes would be offered a Refund Credit Note, a full cash refund, or the option to rebook with no admin fee.

They added: “We will be communicating details of our full Summer 20 programme very soon.

“We will only take customers to destinations that are quarantine-free, so we ask the Government to provide urgent clarity over air bridges so that customers can plan their holidays.”
