Jurgen Klopp confirmed Sadio Mane suffered a knock in Liverpool’s win over Chelsea .
Mane was forced off with 20 minutes to go of Liverpool’s 2-1 success at Stamford Bridge.
The win was Liverpool’s sixth on the spin at the start of the season and cemented their spot at the top of the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp brought on James Milner for Mane for the final 20 minutes and the Senegalese forward appeared in discomfort as he left the stadium at full time.
Speaking afterwards, Klopp admitted the injury was an “awful combination”
“Sadio has a knock on the bone around the knee and a dead leg. It’s an awful combination.
“He tried everything but there was one counter situation when he really tried, on a non-dead leg day he’d have got the ball
“Then we had to say ‘come on now’ and made the change.”
Klopp confirmed Mane could sit out the Carabao Cup clash with MK Dons in midweek as a result.
On his side’s victory, Klopp said: “It was a really good performance and we scored two wonderful goals,”
“It was an exciting game and it was intense – you will never win at Chelsea without putting a proper shift in, and I think we deserved the three points.
“15 wins is exceptional, but what can I say? We try not to think about it, we just do what we have to do in the next game and fight for each ball and it is always really hard work.”
