Jurgen Klopp appeared to have a dig at Arsenal and Chelsea as he praised the dressing rooms at MK Dons’ stadium following Liverpool’s Carabao Cup win.
And asked what he thought of Stadium MK after the game, Klopp joked: “It is a big stadium, a nice stadium. I wish other clubs in London had similar dressing rooms!”
The Liverpool’s manager could be taken as a light-hearted swipe at Chelsea, who Liverpool beat 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to stay five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Klopp hailed Hoever after the 17-year-old’s “impressive” goalscoring performance.
After it was put to him that Hoever’s header for the secon goal was a “brilliant finish”, Klopp said: “It was. I didn’t play when I was 18 years old on a similar stage, so it was quite impressive.”
Klopp was asked whether he saw Hoever’s future as a full-back or a centre-back, and said: “There is no reason to decide that now because for the moment he can play both for sure.
“Full-back is a little bit better for him in the moment, we have to see how he develops physically because the centre is a very demanding position.
“You have to be physically 100 per cent ready. He has the speed, he has the passing, quality.
“Crossing can be improved, but he has a lot of skills that are necessary or useful in the full-back position.
“He has speed, but in the things he has to be more natural, desire to go in the right direction, open up when you control the pass already so that you see the pitch.
“There are so many things to improve, but it is normal. He is 17 years old and if he couldn’t improve any more that would be really strange.
“He has the most time and hopefully we use that together with him.”
