Liverpool are reportedly not interested in signing Aston Villa star Jack Grealish despite recent speculation linking them with a move for the midfielder.
Grealish has been one of the few positives in a disappointing season so far for Villa, with the 24-year-old impressing despite their lowly position in the Premier League.
He has scored eight goals and created six assists, and at times has appeared to single-handedly drag his team through matches.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo the Reds are not pursuing a move for the player, and are happy with their strength and depth in centre midfield.
Grealish has often been linked with a move away from his hometown club in the past, and Villa would surely struggle to keep hold if him if they were relegated this season.
They dropped into the bottom three at the weekend after their humiliating 6-1 defeat to Manchester City coupled with Watford’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth , and are one point off the Hornets and West Ham .
Former Villa striker Andy Gray recently bigged up Grealish, saying he would easily make the starting lineup for some of the Premier League’s elite sides.
“I know he’s a Villa fan, his family are all Villa fans, he loves the club and he loves being captain,” Gray told Bein Sports following coverage of Villa’s 6-1 defeat to City on Sunday.
“But Jack’s 24 now and I think there is a decision coming at the end of this season. And I hate to say it, but I don’t think he’ll be there in August.
“If I was a coach of any of the top-six, and I include Liverpool in this, he would make the team better.
“He’d walk into Spurs’ side. At Chelsea , I know they talk about Mason Mount but I think right now he’s better than Mason Mount.”
Villa face a huge game in the relegation battle on Saturday when they travel to Brighton .
