Calling all bookworms – we may have just found your dream job.
One of the Maldives’ most luxurious resorts is looking for a bookworm to come and run it’s beachfront bookshop.
Yup, that means spending your days talking about books with guests, but you’ll also get to run fun workshops and write for the island blog.
The Soneva Fushi resort is after a ‘Barefoot Bookseller’ to run the pop-up bookshop which is located on one of those absolutely dreamy white sandy beaches the Maldives is renowned for.
You’ll even get to live on the idyllic island itself – so when your working day is done, there’s plenty of time to read on the beach or go snorkeling.
It’s a six-month role that kicks off later this year.
The job is in partnership with Ultimate Library, so you’ll get training from the team before you head off to the island.
Aimée Johnson, a former Barefoot Bookseller at the resort, said of the role: “Being the Barefoot Bookseller was an absolute dream. I got to meet amazing people, work with incredible books and live on a stunning luxury island. Very much the dream job!”
You can also get a sneak peek at what the role involves thanks to the Barefoot Bookseller Instagram where previous employees have shared their adventures.
Think this could be the dream job you’ve been looking for?
There are a few requirements for the role. Obviously, you need to be passionate about books, and be willing to chat with people of all ages to recommend some great novels or non-fiction.
You’ll also be in charge of the Barefoot Bookseller blog and social media accounts, so you need strong written skills.
The Barefoot Bookseller role also includes managing stock, carrying out sales, hosting writing classes for both adults and kids, and some fun events including writer appearances and literary lectures.
You can already apply on the Barefoot Bookseller website but you’ll need to do so by the 30th September 2020.
You can also find out more about the resort itself on the Soneva Fushi website.
