Man Utd ‘in contact’ with Ousmane Dembele’s agent amid Barcelona contract decision

Manchester United continue to be linked with Ousmane Demebele amid speculation regarding a Barcelona exit

The Red Devils are in the market for a forward having failed to sign Jadon Sancho last summer.

Dembele was seen as an alternative to the Borussia Dortmund winger and United have continued to keep him on their radar.

Much will depend on what career move the Frenchman chooses to take as his contract at the Nou Camp winds down, reports Mundo Deportivo

Barcelona are prepared to offer Dembele a contract extension but are open minded about his exit.

With one year left on his current deal United can look to steal a march by signing the player this summer, although Juventus too are keen.

Alternatively the Red Devils could look to bide their time and secure Dembele’s services on a free in just over 12 months time.

United are believed to have made moves in January as they held discussions with the player’s agent.

Dembele’s time in Spain has been hampered by injuries meaning he has never been able to fulfil his potential.

Barcelona signed the 23-year-old in 2017 following the departure of Neymar for £97m.

A wide man is one of several positions that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is poised to address in the summer transfer window.

The United boss may also seek a centre-forward depending on whether Edinson Cavani stays put or not.

A centre-half to play alongside Harry Maguire is also thought to be on his shopping list despite having several options already at Old Trafford.

A crucial decision may also be made in the goalkeeping department as Dean Henderson continues to start ahead David de Gea with both men demanding first team football.
