Man Utd predicted line up for Brighton clash with Dean Henderson to return in goal

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to make several changes to the side that scraped past Brighton on Saturday for Wednesday’s clash.

Manchester United take on the Seagulls once again in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

United beat Brighton 3-2 at the AMEX in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to a penalty that took place after the final whistle.

It was a lucky three points for United who regularly came undone against Brighton. Neal Maupay had given the hosts the lead before a Lewis Dunk own goal and Marcus Rashford solo strike put the visitors in front.

Solly March thought he had grabbed a 90th minute point for Brighton only for the referee to award a penalty after the final whistle.

Dean Henderson will return between the sticks.

In the final action of the game Maupay was adjudged to have handled the ball in his own area.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up to convert and claim all three points for United.

With United to take on Tottenham on Sunday Solskjaer will rotate his players.

Dean Henderson will return between the sticks while Victor Lindelof is expected to make way for Eric Bailly. Diogo Dalot could be in for a reprieve and take Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s slot.

Diogo Dalot could also get a reprieve.

In midfield, Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba are all expected to be replaced by Fred, Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard.

Up top, Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood will also be rested.

It means only Harry Maguire keeps his place in the starting XI.

Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Henderson; Dalot, Bailly, Maguire, Williams; Fred, Van de Beek; James, Lingard, Mata; Ighalo

Solskjaer was honest with his side’s lucky win from the weekend and will no doubt be expecting a much improved performance.

“That’s a big thing for us compared to last season,” said the United boss. “We didn’t win many games.

“We were the team that had the least defeats apart from Liverpool but too many draws so that’s a big plus for us.

“We’ve got to be honest enough to say they created the most chances, they had big chances so we need to improve a lot going forward.”
