Man Utd transfer roundup: Van de Beek ‘priority’, Sancho bemused, Koulibaly latest

Manchester United have already secured their spot in the Champions League for next season, and lifting the Europa League trophy would be a wonderful way to finish the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Running parallel to United’s silverware aims are the club’s transfer dealings.

Solskjaer is an ambitious manager, and he will be hoping he can secure a few key players as the Red Devils attempt to challenge for a Premier League title next season.

Here are the latest Manchester United transfer rumours.

Ajax midfielder prioritised ahead of Premier League star

Donny van de Beek was expected to move to Real Madrid last summer

Manchester United are prioritising Ajax starlet Donny van de Beek ahead of Jack Grealish, according to the Evening Standard.

Grealish is fresh off helping Aston Villa avoid relegation from the Premier League and had been tipped to leave the club this summer.

Meanwhile, Van de Beek has been one of Ajax’s stars during the last few seasons and was expected to complete a move to Real Madrid last summer.

Both men are still available for transfer from their respective clubs. And that has seen United’s interest in them intensify.

The report from the Evening Standard states that United will seek to forge a deal for the Dutch midfielder before they attempt to sign Grealish, who is considered too expensive at more than £50million.

United ready to rival City for defender

Manchester United are ready to rival Man City for Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Koulibaly, 29, has long been linked with a move away from current club Napoli. Reports this week indicated that the Italian club were close to signing Gabriel Magalhães as his replacement.

City have long held an interest in Koulibaly but are unwilling to match Napoli’s asking price, which Gazzetta Dello Sport states is €100million (£90m).

United, meanwhile, have maintained their willingness to offer €70m (£63m) for the Senegalese defender. Solskjaer is keen to improve his defensive options this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League.

Sancho ‘bemused’ by transfer saga

Jadon Sancho is reportedly becoming frustrated with the drawn-out transfer saga

Jadon Sancho is feeling bemused and frustrated by the lack of progress in his potential move to Manchester United, according to Sky Sports.

Sancho has been a long-term target for United but the club is unwilling to meet Borussia Dortmund’s demands for a €100m (£90m) transfer.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has stressed Sancho will now be with them for next season after the clubs failed to make a deal this week.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth reports that United are also growing frustrated at the lack of pace in negotiations.

“As far as Manchester United are concerned, nothing has changed,” he said on Sky Sports.

“The noises we’re getting from them is that they won’t be bullied, they won’t be held to ransom.

“There’s a feeling that player wages and agent fees are an obstacle as far as Manchester United are concerned.”

Sheth also claimed Sancho has no desire to force a move.

“The information I’m getting this morning is there’s a sense of bemusement in the Sancho camp,” he added.

“Making Sancho the highest paid player at Manchester United [and] making him break the wage structure at Manchester United has never once been on the agenda.”
