Man Utd ‘worried’ about Bruno Fernandes and reacted in the transfer window

Manchester United are reportedly concerned over the mental and physical strain being placed on star man Bruno Fernnades.

Fernandes has barely missed a minute since his January arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

The midfielder turned things around for the Red Devils at the end of last season but has struggled to replicate that impact so far this campaign.

And, according to reports in Portugal, the club are worried he has been worn out by the demands placed on him since his arrival.

O Jogo state that concerns over Fernandes and a need to take some pressure of his shoulders contributed to United’s hectic deadline day, signing Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles as well as youngsters Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri.

Fernandes, currently away from Old Trafford on international duty with Portugal, has assumed an immediate leadership role at the club.

Fernandes has scored twice from the penalty spot this campaign but been unable to prevent the Red Devils struggling early on in the Premier League.

He was replaced at half-time in their recent 6-1 hammering against Tottenham.

However, the arrivals of Telles and Cavani will look to boost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and settle things around their midfield maestro.

And Porto ace Telles revealed he spoke to Fernandes before completing his move.

“I believe I’m going to meet a marvellous group,” Telles told United’s official website.

“I’ve spoken to Bruno Fernandes and he’s said how welcoming the boys are. I believe I will settle very well into the group.”
