Paul Ince says he and Roy Keane would thrive against current Arsenal midfield

Paul Ince says he and Roy Keane would be champing at the bit to get at Arsenal ’s midfield on Monday night if they were still in the engine room for Manchester United .

The pair formed a formidable partnership during their days together at United, helping Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to a Premier League and FA Cup Double in 1993-94.

Ince said: “I’d love to play against this Arsenal midfield, absolutely love it.

“And if you asked Roy Keane, he’d love it, because as much as they’re technically very good players, they lack power, they lack strength.

“Dani Ceballos looks a very good player but I don’t understand Granit Xhaka. I don’t understand why he plays every week.

“I don’t see what he brings to Arsenal. Yes, he’ll shoot from 25 yards, and the odd one might go in, but the rest will probably go in row Z.

Ince has slammed Arsenal’s midfield

“And Matteo Guendouzi is still young, so that midfield you could probably get at.

“Mind you, if I compare the two midfields, I don’t really see much in either one of them.”

But Ince added: “What United need is a goalscorer.

Manchester City have Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, Tottenham have Harry Kane, Arsenal have Alex Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – and I just don’t see that with Manchester United.

“You have to have someone who will score 20, 25 goals a season.

“They lost so many goals when they sold Romelu Lukaku – and they just haven’t replaced them.”
