A photo of a man on a plane is raising a stink online after they breached airplane etiquette by sticking their feet in the air.
Passengers were given more room to spread out under new social distancing measures – but one traveller appeared to take it too far.
Even worse for his fellow passengers – his feet were completely bare.
Fellow passenger Eddy Boche, 25, snapped the picture after his girlfriend alerted him to the audacious act during the journey.
After being shared on Twitter, the photo sparked lots of reaction, with one person tweeting: “No fly list forever. I need the picture on FBI’s most wanted.”
Eddy said he took the picture on a flight from Austin, Texas, to Chicago, on June 23.
He told Mirror.co.uk: “To promote social distancing, the airline left open as many seats as they could next to occupied seats.
“The gentleman in the picture was older and pretty tall, taller than me and I’m 6 foot. I guess he felt that was the most comfortable position for him.”
Although the photo has sparked a reaction online, Eddy said his fellow travellers didn’t react strongly.
He said: “Surprisingly [there wasn’t] too much murmuring or complaints to the flight attendants!
“As far as I know I was the only one who snapped a picture.
“I was taking a nap before my partner woke me up to point it out.
“I was half asleep but it was like an instinct to take a picture of something so audacious.”
Happily, Eddy said the man was forced to move as the plane was “close to landing so he was forced to sit up.”
After being shared on Twitter, the photo has been shared over 60,000 times, with many people criticising the move.
One person said: “Imagine the facial expression on the person sitting behind that.”
A third person joked: “Ryanair be like: ‘For just £39 extra, you can stretch out those achey legs in one of our super-spacious saver seats!'”
But one traveller, set to board a plane soon, saw some sense in the man’s behaviour, tweeting: “Riding on a plane in a couple of days and this is how I’m going to maintain social distancing tbh.”
Another added: “Bare feet on an airplane in general is insanity, I don’t even know what to call this.”
It comes as airlines are enforcing strict rules following new coronavirus strict restrictions.
Under new government guidance, passengers will have to wear face masks and face temperature checks before boarding.
One airline has also insisted travellers should wear face shields as well as masks.
A Qatar Airways spokeswoman has warned reluctant economy passengers that they will be mandatory.
But if you travel in business class, they will be optional, as travellers have more space to follow social distancing rules.
