Ever since the news was announced that a new £3.5billion theme park was being built in the UK, thrill-seekers have eagerly awaited a glimpse of what will be on offer.
Now The London Resort has revealed a first look at the themed lands which will make up the 535-acre site (the size of 136 Wembley Stadiums) by releasing some of the concept art – and it looks pretty impressive.
The resort has been dubbed the UK’s answer to Disneyland, although it has no affiliation with Disney.
However, it has partnered with the BBC, ITV Studios and Paramount Pictures – and it will offer six different lands for visitors; The High Street, The Studios, The Woods, The Isles, The Jungle and The Starport.
The High Street will offer shops, restaurants, hotels and even a waterpark, and will serve as a gateway to the park.
Those after an adrenaline rush can head to The Studios which promises “exhilarating thrills of big, blockbuster features” including “explosive action, high-octane car chases and high-stakes espionage”, or the The Jungle where you’ll find “ancient secrets, surprising discoveries and strange mystical artefacts”.
The Isles are also sure to be a hit with heaps of thrilling rides and promises of mythical beasts and giant creatures, while The Starport is likely to appeal to sci-fi fans, and will also offer a variety of rides.
For little ones and those with a gentler disposition, The Woods will be an enchanted forest where fairytales are brought to life, while The Kingdom will offer “an immersive realm of swords, sorcery, dragons & legend”.
Unfortunately Brits are going to have to wait a little longer before discovering it all for themselves, as the park isn’t set to open until 2024.
The plan is that it will eventually become a two-park resort; the first will open in 2024, and the second is anticipated to open within five years.
The theme park is also looking to achieve a Net Zero emissions goal, having partnered with EDF Energy in a bid to become the world’s most sustainable theme park destination in the world.
PY Gerbeau, Chief Executive of London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), said: “We are creating a first-class theme park. A destination that maximises all the new, immersive and interactive technologies and experiences in the world.
“But we won’t just be creating a world class leisure destination, it will also be one of the most sustainable theme parks on the planet.
“We have three guidelines we work to when it comes to developing attractions.
“Number one is innovation. We’re not here to copy what’s been done before even if it has been successful. Number two is relevance. We need to consider that the customers of today will not be the customers of 2024. And the third is flexibility. We need to create a park that can evolve and adapt easily.”
