Thomas Cook re-launches with holidays to Italy and Turkey for less than £320pp

Thomas Cook has made a comeback a year after the travel giant collapsed and entered compulsory liquidation.

New owner Fosun Tourism Group, which owns the rights to the name and brand, has re-launched Thomas Cook as an online travel agent, with new holidays already on sale to the likes of Italy and Turkey.

The business will retain the brand’s iconic ‘Sunny Heart’ logo, and will offer everything from room-only stays to all-inclusive deals, with a wide array of 3* to 5* accommodation types.

That includes holidays currently available to Rome from £126pp for two people in November, or even family holidays to Turkey from £312pp in October.

Brits who are interested can book holidays and find out more on the Thomas Cook website.

The new business is online-only

To start with, destinations on offer will be where the FCDO does not advise against travel, although there are plans to offer more destinations if travel restrictions lift further down the line.

Holidaymakers who book a holiday won’t be charged a fee to change their trip if government advice changes before they travel.

The business will continue to use the original ‘Sunny Heart’ logo

The new venture includes a team of UK-based travel advisors, and will allow Brits to design their ideal holiday from hotel choice to flight times and add-ons from transfers to airport parking.

Thomas Cook’s collapse in September 2019 saw thousands of holidaymakers affected by cancelled holidays, while it also led to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) operating one of the largest peacetime repatriations for Brits stranded abroad.

Alan French, Thomas Cook’s UK CEO, said: “Re-launching Thomas Cook as a business designed for today’s holidaymaker is an honour.

“What happened last year was a tragedy at a personal level for many thousands of my former colleagues, our business partners and of course our loyal customers.

“The resilience and affection still felt for the Thomas Cook brand reflects the huge commitment and professionalism of those former colleagues. We are very much in their debt and hope to have their backing as we look to take the brand into a new era.”
