Timo Werner leaves first impression on Chelsea teammates after training with new side

Christian Pulisic has heaped praise upon Timo Werner for his performances in training since joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig.

The Blues announced the signing of the German striker for a fee of around £53m in June, but he has only joined up with his new teammates recently after finishing the Bundesliga season with Leipzig.

Werner has already appeared to show signs of what is to come, however, and speaking to Chelsea’s official website Pulisic said he has been impressed by what he has seen from the 24-year-old so far.

“He’s a very dangerous player,” Pulisic said. “I think he has some similar qualities to me and some of the attacking guys we have. He’s obviously very quick and very good in front of goal.

“He seems like a very humble guy. He wants to come in and wants to work. Playing against him has been a great experience and it’s going to be nice to have him on my team as well. So I’m definitely looking forward to that.”

Werner grabbed the attention of Europe’s elite clubs after scoring 28 times in the Bundesliga this season, and after being strongly linked with Liverpool he eventually signed on the dotted line for Chelsea in what many consider to be a major coup for the west London side.

Speaking about his first week at training, Werner said: “The first day is always a little bit crazy because you don’t know everybody so much.

Big things are expected of Werner next season

“Not only the team, it is always a pleasure to meet the team behind the team for the first time and now I am very happy and excited to meet them.”

Chelsea face what looks like an impossible task on Saturday as they try to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Bayern Munich in their Champions League last-16 second leg in Germany.
