Legend Miller on why he picked Dundee

More on Kenny Miller’s move here…

Miller revealed Dundee manager Neil McCann was a huge influence on his decision to move to Tayside.

Miller has joined his former Rangers and Scotland team-mate’s playing squad on a two-year contract following his shock departure as Livingston player/manager last week.

The 38-year-old also held talks with St Mirren but has joined the Ladbrokes Premiership bottom club, who have lost their opening three matches.

Miller told his new club’s official website: “I’ve got a long-standing relationship with the manager. We go back to my first time at Rangers back in 2000.

“The manager had been there a year, a year and a half before I joined. We travelled through together, we have always spoken, we had played with Scotland for a number of years.

“He is someone I really respect, I like the way his team tries to play.

“So overall the manager has been a huge, huge impact on my decision to come to Dundee. There are not many teams try and play the way that Dundee play, so I think it will really suit my game and I think I will be able to help the team and make them better.”

Miller will turn 40 six months before his contract ends but he was keen to tie up a longer deal.

“It’s something that is pretty rare when you get to my age, to get longer than a year,” he said. “But it’s something I was really keen to do and I’m really, really grateful to the club.” Miller is set to make his debut on Saturday against Motherwell, who he faced in his last match for Livi.

“It’s a real opportunity to go and kick-start the season,” he said.

“I have watched a lot of the games and they were very unfortunate in the three league games.

“Hopefully I can bring a lot of experience and help the boys get the season kick-started because some of the football has been fantastic, just maybe a wee bit of luck has not been on our side.”
