British Travel Awards 2019 voting opens and you could win a luxury holiday

It’s time for the nation’s holiday ‘Oscars’ again and you could win a fabulous prize just for taking part.

The illustrious 2019 British Travel Awards are your chance to say who is the cream of the getaway business.

These are the UK travel industry’s most coveted prizes because they’re voted for by you – the paying public who spends their hard-earned money on the holidays and services they provide.

And they’re the biggest consumer-voted programme in the UK – not just for travel – with 334,522 people casting 753,938 votes in the 2018 awards.

Categories for voting include cruise lines, airlines, hotels, overseas tour operators, long-haul specialists and staycation attractions, destinations and accommodation firms.

Plus there’s those all-important add-ons to vote for, such as travel insurance, airport parking, currency exchange, transfer firms and price comparison websites.

The Mirror’s travel team presented an award alongside Miles Jupp at the 2018 ceremony

As a thank you for taking the time to join in, everyone who submits a vote is entered into a draw for a glittering Aladdin’s cave of fabulous holiday prizes worth tens of thousands of pounds – with more being added regularly.

The treasure chest of travel treats to be won includes:

  • James Villa Holidays – a £2,000 accommodation gift card
  • Viking River Cruises – an eight-day Rhine cruise for two worth around £5,000
  • Avis Prestige Cars – a UK weekend rental for a Jaguar F-Type Cabriolet or Coupe valued at £500.
  • Sykes Holiday Cottages – a £500 staycation self-catering accommodation voucher.
  • Newmarket Holidays – a seven-night two-centre trip for two to Croatia and Montenegro valued at £2,000.
  • APH (Airport Parking & Hotels) – 25 hotel and parking packages worth up to £200 each.
  • Ionian & Aegean Island Holidays – a week’s villa getaway for two on Kefalonia valued at around £2,000.
  • Cornish Gems – a £1,500 holiday voucher for a break for up to eight at a luxury coastal home in Mawgan Porth, north Cornwall.
  • P&O Ferries – two return crossings for up to four with a car from Hull to Zeebrugge or Rotterdam with a cabin and breakfast; three return crossings for up to nine with a car from Dover to Calais including access to Club Lounge; and two mini-cruises for two passengers from Hull to Rotterdam, Amsterdam or Bruges with a cabin and coach transfers. The total giveaway is worth £2,760.
  • On The Go Tours – a nine-day escorted and guided itinerary to Morocco for two valued at £1,700.

BTA chief Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “Last year, 334,522 holiday buyers voted for their preferred providers, making the British Travel Awards the largest and most influential of all travel industry awards.

“Our core values of integrity, transparency and credibility have made the BTAs the most recognised and valued awards for both the travel industry and the voting consumers.”

The 2019 winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in London, Nov 27.

Last year’s ceremony was themed on Around the World in 80 Days

How to vote

Simply head to the British Travel Awards website here where you can register and make your choice.

It’s all scrutinised by leading accountants Deloitte and is not limited to UK residents.

There are 83 award categories covering a comprehensive range of leisure travel services and experiences. That may seem a lot to you but you do not have to vote in them all – just opt for as many or as few as you wish.

And it’s really easy too. If, for example, you only want to vote for your favourite no-fly cruise line and nothing else, you can. It’s up to you.

The online voting form allows you to return to it as many times as you like up to September 30 to dip in and out to amend your votes or add new ones.

There will also be an invitation to take part in research that looks at the nation’s holiday plans for 2020. It’s voluntary and, like the awards voting, you can choose to do as much or as little as you choose.

But to reward you for taking part in the survey, you get a bonus entry in the big prize draw.
