Disney changes rules on pushchairs in theme parks for 2019

Disney has changed a host of rules in its theme parks including a new smoking ban, but there are particular changes that parents need to take note of.

The company has changed regulations regarding the size of pushchairs which will be allowed Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks, as well as Downtown Disney and the company’s water parks.

It’s worth noting that the new rules will come into force on Wednesday 1st May 2019, so if you have any Disney holidays planned for this year you’re likely to be affected.

Disney made the announcement on its website explaining: “Beginning May 1, we are adjusting our guidelines on stroller sizes, which will require them to be no larger than 31″ (79cm) wide and 52″ (132cm) long.

“The good news – many strollers on the market, including many double jogging strollers, fit within these size guidelines.

“Also, just a reminder that wagons are not permitted in our parks.

“Beginning May 1, stroller wagons will also no longer be permitted. These updates are designed to help guest flow and ease congestion, making the parks more enjoyable for everyone.”

It’s worth noting that if you do have a stroller that’s larger than the permitted sizes, Walt Disney World does have strollers which you can rent.

It costs $15 a day, unless you opt for multi-day hire which works out at $13 a day. You can find out more on the Walt Disney World website.

Alternatively, you could buy a stroller for the holiday if this works out cheaper than renting – it’s up to you as to what works best for your needs!
