Imagine if money was no object and you could plan the ultimate luxury holiday home of your dreams – what would be top of the list?
A huge swimming pool? Tennis courts? A ginormous kitchen? A massive playground where the kids can run wild?
For millionaires, this is very much a reality and now luxury holiday home firm Stay One Degree has revealed just what’s top of the one per cent’s list, as they’re exactly the network’s clientele.
Some of the requests are downright ridiculous; we’re talking shark tanks, helipads and even live-in portrait painters.
So these customers are not exactly on tight budgets, but some of these really do prove some people have way too much money to spare.
Check out the top 10 most jaw-dropping demands below…
A shark tank
The words “James Bond villain” sprung to mind when we heard one of the firm’s customers asked for a shark tank to be installed inside their property.
A live-in portrait painter to capture the family holiday
Um… it’s called a camera?
One user requested a panic room be included in the main bedroom suite, or at least connected to it. To be honest, after we saw the film starring Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart, we wanted one too.
Helipads on the grounds of the property
Where else are you going to park your private helicopter?
Stocked wine cellar
A wine cellar doesn’t seem particularly outlandish – but demanding it be fully stocked does. Not to mention it includes specific requests for thirty-year-old Bordeaux and fifty-year-old whiskies. What happened to the good old days of heading to the off-licence and searching for the cheapest bottle?
Bullet proof glass within all the main rooms in the residence
We’re wondering if this is the same person who requested the panic room. Who do they think is coming after them??
Tree houses in the garden for the children
A fairly reasonable request. Until you consider they asked for it to have full amenities including electricity, running water, a private cinema and a games room. This ‘treehouse’ is probably going to be bigger than most of our houses.
Private coast line or access to a private beach
This one we can get behind – who wants to deal with the crowds and fight for towel space anyway?
A private zoo with live-in exotic animals
Apparently they requested a tiger. What’s wrong with going on safari and seeing the animals in their natural habitat instead?
Personalised wardrobes on arrival
With stylists and dressers to hand. After all, you’re a millionaire – you need to look the part.
Lucy McQuaid, Head of Operations and Sales said: “Our members are constantly on the lookout for that next level of luxury. Whilst I can match most requests with one of our homeowners, I was surprised by the one for a pet crocodile, but we even managed to fulfil that.”
Stay One Degree currently hosts over 1,000 properties in 54 countries and has a growing 10,000 members since it first launched in December 2017.
Guess for now we’ll have to stick to creating our dream houses on games like The Sims. Or check out one of the private tropical islands that are surprisingly cheap to rent.
