MSC Cruises have revealed just what it takes to build a £1billion cruise ship in a new time-lapse video.
The luxury cruise line has offered a sneak peek at the construction of brand new ship MSC Bellissima which is celebrating her naming ceremony in Southampton tonight (Saturday 2nd March).
One of the highly-anticipated new cruise ships for 2019, MSC Bellissima won’t have been the easiest of ships to build – after all, the ship has 19 decks and boasts a gross tonnage of 171,598 with a maximum passenger capacity of 5,686.
In fact, she’ll be the biggest ever cruise ship to be named in the UK (you can read more facts about MSC Belissima here).
The video is pretty mesmerising to watch, starting right from the first days where construction began through to the moment when she was ready for delivery, with glimpses of how everything from the cabins to the decks were put together at the shipyard in in Saint-Nazaire, France.
Of course now the ship has been completed, furbished and prepared to host thousands of guests for her big debut – and it’s ridiculously glamorous inside.
We’re talking over 20 dining venues, swanky balcony cabins, sparkling glass staircases filled with Swarovski crystals and a 260ft-long LED sky dome which continually changes to showcase a host of colourful displays.
Oh, there’s even a two-storey Mediterranean-style promenade where passengers will find heaps of boutiques and restaurants to while away some of the time on those days at sea.
MSC Bellissima will be officially named in a glamorous ceremony hosted by Holly Willoughby which will also include live performances from Nile Rodgers and Chic, as well as an appearance by Craig David.
