MSC Bellissima will be making her official debut at a lavish naming ceremony this weekend – and MSC Cruises really has pulled out all the stops for the occasion.
Thousands of VIP guests boarded the ship on Friday to kick-start the weekend-long celebrations, which will see the naming ceremony take place on Saturday.
Meanwhile, actress Sophia Loren will also be there to celebrate as the ship’s godmother.
As well as her naming ceremony, MSC Bellissima will mark another milestone, becoming the biggest ever cruise ship to be named in the UK.
Guests will get a preview of some of the ridiculously swanky features on board, including access to MSC Cruises’ new voice-activated personal assistant ZOE – think the cruise version of Amazon’s Alexa.
ZOE can speak seven languages and answer 800 commonly asked questions on board.
Then of course there are all the extra touches from the Swarovski-crystal decorated staircases to the huge Mediterranean-style promenade, not to mention the 20 dining venues and lounges to be found.
Once the celebrations are over, it will be straight to work for the epic cruise ship which will sail on her maiden voyage to Genoa, Italy.
From there, her inaugural season will include seven-night itineraries across the Western Mediterranean.
In November, she will begin sailings from Dubai, while spring 2020 will see her take on a series of glamorous voyages in Asia.
