Premier Inn has opened the first of its new budget, no-frills hotels which will offer compact pod rooms from £19 a night.
ZIP by Premier Inn will have small rooms measuring just 8.5sqm with two single beds that can be pushed into a double, an ensuite shower and a 24-inch TV.
There will be some optional paid-for extras too such as additional room cleaning and faster WiFi (although the basic Wifi package is free for guests).
There will be a communal area where guests can tuck into breakfast with prices from £3.95pp – after breakfast, the area becomes a workspace and bar with a big screen TV and table football.
The first hotel officially opened in Cardiff earlier this month.
Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson was on hand to help celebrate the occasion, as he explored the rooms and communal space.
In fact, Premier Inn has a rugby-themed extra perk for any guest staying in the hotel before the Wales v Ireland match, who will be gifted an exclusive ZIP rugby ball for the occasion.
Gavin Henson said: “It was great fun to launch the world’s first ZIP by Premier Inn here in Cardiff. I’m sure that the rugby fans who are flocking to the city to watch the big match later in March will love the fact that they have somewhere very cool to stay without breaking the bank.
“The ZIP team showed me that they’ve got all of the skills needed to give a very warm Welsh welcome to their guests and I wish them every success.”
