Completing the London Marathon is no easy feat, but there’s more than just a sense of relief/pride/exhaustion awaiting runners who cross the finish line this Sunday.

That’s because all across London, a host of restaurants and bars are serving up free food and drink to triumphant runners who complete the race and have the shiny medal to prove it.

We’re not just talking token snacks either – think huge burgers dripping in cheese, pad thais, pizzas and even a tipple or two.

Basically, it is the perfect excuse to replenish your energy stores and tuck into some seriously mouthwatering dishes.

However, you won’t want to wander around the capital looking for deals – so we’ve already done the hard work for you and searched out all the best foodie freebies for London Marathon runners.


Best London Marathon free food and drink offers

Free pizza from Franco Manca

From Sunday 28 April to Monday 29 April runners can visit their nearest Franco Manca restaurant bearing their medal and claim a free pizza from the menu or specials board.

Free burgers at Maxwells

Take your finisher’s medal along on race day to Maxwell’s in Covent Garden and you’ll be rewarded with one hearty burger for free. Choose between the Maxwell’s Old Timer or Veggie Burger and indulge guilt-free after a gruelling day.

The restaurant is pretty popular so it might be worth booking in advance to ensure you get a place. Maxwell’s is also offering volunteers 25% off their food, but you’ll need to bring proof with you.

Free meal at Busabi

Following a 26.2-mile journey, some sustenance is required, which is why Thai food chain Busaba are offering runners the chance to refuel for free.

Simply show your medal at any of the 13 restaurants dotted around London between 28 April and 29 April to claim a meal. Runners get the choice of any one of the Pad Thais, Wok Noodles, Curries, Char-grills, Soups, Salads, Stir-fries or Rice Bowls.

Scottish champions Mac & Wild will be congratulating all London Marathon runners with free wild bowl.
