You can now stay at a Tequila hotel where you sleep in barrel and try lots of booze

Calling all Tequila lovers, your dream hotel actually exists…

Matices Hotel de Barricas in Tequila, Mexico, offers guests the ultimate tequila-inspired break.

Attached to a distillery, people will be treated to a tour and tasting sessions where they can test out some of the local product.

As well as traditional rooms, the hotel offers barrel shaped cabins which guests can stay in for their visit – and they obviously include a mini bar.

The restaurant also looks incredible. Built in a cave five metres underground, it serves up delicious regional meals in stunning surroundings.

And of course, there are a lot of tequila-inspired cocktails on the menu!

The hotel is just a ten minute walk from central Tequila and Central Guadalajara is a 45-minute drive away.

Online reviews are very positive, and it seems guests loved their booze-themed holiday.

They’ve followed the theme throughout

One woman wrote: “Unique location, the staff were great. The included tours and tastings we well done.”

Another commented: “Such a unique hotel! You can sleep in a barrel room but we upgraded to the king rooms.

“Agave is the theme, you sleep surrounded by them and the king rooms were full of agave art, metalwork, paintings & decoration.

“Lots of ducks in a lovely pond nearby, super tequila themed gift shop and lovely restaurant.

“We especially liked the outdoor bar named after the la parota tree it is under. Not inexpensive but most certainly worth it. Lovely spot not to be missed when you want to stay overnight near the charming town of Tequila.”

Prices start from about £150 a night.
