Universal has just given thrill-seekers plenty of reasons to get excited for its new theme park.
That’s because the epic new resort has shared a first look inside its SEVEN themed lands, complete with a sneak peek at the rides, shows and attractions which visitors can expect, in a new fly-through video of the park.
There will be lands dedicated to some of the studios’ iconic franchises including Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda, and Transformers.
The resort had already previously revealed there would be seven themed lands, but this is the first time that we’ve had a look at just what they will look like.
The new theme park will open in 2021, although it will take a bit of planning for Brits as it will be located in Beijing, China.
So, what exactly is going to be on offer?
Well, each of the seven lands is fully immersive; you’ll be transported into the world of your favourite films, with everything from the decor to the rides and even the restaurants being themed.
Harry Potter fans will be able to explore The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, similar to that of Universal Orlando’s offering complete with a Hogwarts castle, as well as the opportunity to explore key settings such as Dumbledore’s Office, the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom, the Gryffindor Common Room, and the Room of Requirement.
Oh, and of course the drinks stalls will offer up some Butterbeer for a quick refreshment.
As for the more daring wizards? Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is a rollercoaster sure to offer heaps of thrills.
Speaking of thrills, you can explore Jurassic World Isla Nubar where dinosaurs roam. The immersive land brings the terrifying creatures to life with plenty of surprises, as well as four zones all of which offer a different interactive adventure (the park has remained tight-lipped about exactly what these will include).
The braver theme park fans can take on Jurassic World Adventure, a terrifying ride that throws you into the wilderness of Nublar Island… just keep an eye out for the Tyrannosaurus rex, Indominus rex and Velociraptors!
In the Transformers themed land, the first in the world, you’ll be surrounded by Autobots and futuristic buildings. The land will offer some epic rollercoasters including the resort’s biggest ride, the Decepticoaster, as well as attraction Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark.
Meanwhile, Kung Fu Panda fans can wander through the Valley of Peace where Po and his friends live. Walk through the village, step into the themed restaurants, or take on the epic log flume ride which sees you joining forces with Po to fight against Tian Sha.
Smaller kids are sure to love Minion Land, where you’ll be able to interact with the mischievous minions and wander around the colourful land filled with surprises.
One highlight for the big kids? The Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, where you’ll be launched into a trip through Gru’s Super Villain laboratory.
As well as the film-themed lands, the resort will also offer Hollywood and Waterworld lands where guests can watch live stunt shows and performances, as well as discovering how special effects are created behind-the-scenes for epic blockbusters.
As well as the theme park, Universal Beijing Resort will feature a Universal CityWalk destination with shops and restaurants, not to mention there will be two hotels on offer for guests; The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and the NUO Resort Hotel.
Construction for the Universal Beijing Resort is currently underway, with an opening date expected for 2021.
Mr. Tom Mehrmann, President and General Manager of Universal Beijing Resort, said: “We and our local partners, including Beijing Tourism Group, are creating one of the most magnificent theme park destinations ever built – right here in Beijing.
