Universal Orlando has seriously upped the stakes with a thrilling new rollercoaster, launching in summer 2021.
The Florida theme park has unveiled its new Jurassic World themed ride, the VelociCoaster, which will be its fastest and tallest launch coaster yet, not to mention it will feature the steepest ride drop.
In fact, riders will be catapulted up to 155ft in the air – and with speeds reaching up to 70mph, it’s set to be one of the fastest rides across the entire resort too.
The new ride, at the Islands of Adventure park, will see riders embark on a high-speed chase alongside a pack of Velociraptors.
The experience includes plenty of adrenaline-inducing moments including two pulse-pounding launches (one of which reaches 70mph in 2.4 seconds), a 360-degree barrell roll, and even a zero-gravity inverted stall that sends you upside down across 100 feet of track.
Oh, and the ‘Top Hat’ will propel riders 155ft in the air before an immediate 80 degree drop – the steepest in the park.
It’s the first ride to be based on the Jurassic World franchise, and will feature 4,700ft of track.
The rollercoaster also features an original story starring the cast of the films; Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu.
Then of course, there’s the rest of the resort’s Jurassic Park themed land to be explored.
Highlights include the Jurassic Park River Adventure where you come face to face with life-size dinosaurs on a raft ride, as well as the Raptor Encounter where you can meet Velociraptor Blue (if you dare).
