The Canadian is a WWE Hall of Famer and a seven-time WWE Women’s Champion, but retired from regular competition over a decade ago.
Her appearances since then have been sporadic – including an entry into January’s first women’s Royal Rumble match in the coveted number 30 spot.
Now, though, she’s set for a marquee match at one of the company’s biggest events of the year after WWE appeared to confirm she will face current Raw Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss.
While no formal announcement has been made, a graphic promoting a match between the two at Evolution in October was shown to the live crowd attending the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 show at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn tonight.
Evolution will be the first all-female pay per view in WWE history and will feature greats from the company’s past, present and future as main roster and NXT championships are defended.
The show takes place on October 28 in New York.
There is an outside chance of the Stratus-Bliss match being for Bliss’ Raw Women’s championship, should she successfully defend against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam tomorrow.
